For Lucky, life once meant being tied to a tree and simply trying to get through the day. Now, the 2-year-old Labrador Retriever mix spends his time playing with other dogs, walking on a leash, enjoying outdoor adventures, and discovering what it feels like to belong to a family.

The rescue dog was found tied to a tree at a homeless camp in Stockton, California. When he entered rescue, he was skinny and unsure of his surroundings. He also had little experience with the routines and comforts that come with living in a home. The video captures that difficult beginning through the text overlay, “He was tied to a tree.” The short line immediately sets up Lucky’s past before the footage shifts to show how much his life has changed.

The clips show Lucky enjoying time outdoors and interacting comfortably with people and other dogs. Another text overlay sums up that transformation: “Now he’s learning what SAFE feels like.” The video specifically highlights this achievement with the overlay, “He walks well on leash.” Lucky has also shown that he enjoys the company of other dogs. The footage features him spending time with other dogs and describes him as friendly with dogs of different sizes.

The rescue says he also does well with children. One of the video’s clips shows him calmly spending time around a young girl, accompanied by the text, “Wonderful with kids.” Although Lucky has made considerable progress, his foster family knows that his journey is not finished. He is still working on his house manners and needs continued guidance as he adjusts to life in a home. The good news is that he wants to learn and continues to make progress.

Lucky is about 2 years old, weighs 51 pounds, and is a Labrador Retriever mix. He is described as dog-, cat-, and kid-friendly, crate-trained, and leash-trained. The final overlay in the video explains: “Lucky is looking for his forever home.” Lucky is currently available for adoption through Central California Labrador Retriever Rescue in Roseville, California.
